Description
If there is one concertina player who has made the legend of tango great in Barcelona, it is undoubtedly Marcelo Mercadante from Buenos Aires, a musician who trained in his native city with masters of the class of Rodolfo Mederos, took his first steps alongside Pablo Mainetti and Andrés Serafini, among others, and came to Barcelona in 1992 as accompanist of the much-missed actor Pepe Rubianes. With Gustavo Battaglia and Andrés Serafini, in 1994 he founded the Trío Argentino de Tango, the curtain raiser to a glorious career alongside Amelita Baltar, the OBC, the Araca quartet, Joan Manuel Serrat, Miguel Poveda or Raynald Colom. In the company of what is almost a chamber orchestra, Mercadante formed the Quinteto Porteño, with whom he performs classic tangos and, above all, pieces by Piazzolla. For one night, Plaça Reial will be part of the Boca district.
