Exactly half a century ago, the same year that Jamboree opened its doors, saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and trombonist Bob Brookmeyer began a rich collaboration that would bear its fruit with the creation of “The Concert Jazz Band”, a group defined by Mulligan himself as "a true jazz band", which was home to players of the calibre of Zoot Sims, Art Farmer, Mel Lewis, Gene Allen, Clark Terry, Jim Hall, Chico Hamilton, Phil Woods and a host of other top jazz names. Fifty years after that feat, unfortunately forgotten in a time when revivals abound, a nine-piece band of reputed Catalan musicians from different generations, the Nat Jazz Band, is recovering the spirit of that unrepeatable group that wrote some of the most glorious pages in the history of jazz.
