Description
In tune with the most creative jazz of American underground environments, the Irish bassist Simon Jermyn is currently one of the very finest four-string players in the “off” New York scene. “The best bass solo I’ve ever heard since the classic one by Hugh Hopper on the album 1984 from 1973.” The words of the critic Bruce Lee Gallanter to define the evocative style of Simon Jermyn, who put out the album Trot A Mouse (FSNT) in 2006, in the company of Loren Stillman and Ryan Blotnick. Flanked this time by an equally top-class band, with the outstanding Nordic name Mikkel Ploug, a guitarist who triumphed a few months ago at the Jamboree in the company of Mark Turner, and the well-known musicians from the New York scene Tommy Crane and Robin Fincker, Jermyn returns to the Plaça Reial venue to demonstrate his original discourse and show why he has been in demand among the likes of Bill McHenry, Ben Monder and Jim Black.
