New tribute session to a jazz classic, this time the king of the drums Tito Puente, promoter of styles such as mambo and Latin jazz. He came from the same generation as Machito or Tito Rodríguez, became an emblematic figure at the New York Palladium and was the playing partner of the great Celia Cruz. Charged with paying tribute to him are the Barcelona Percussion Project, a combo forged in 2005 by Àngel Pereira and Nan Mercader which has constructed projects with Álex Acuña, Angá Díaz, Dave Samuels, Munir Hossn and Víctor Mendoza. And Mendoza, a Mexican based in New York who has been sideman for Paquito D’Rivera, Danilo Pérez and Claudio Roditti, will take part in the rhythmic discharge, along with the saxophonist Perico Sambeat who, after his triumph with his flamenco big band and a flirtation with hip hop, will show off his gifts as a Latin jazz player.
* After each set the venue must be cleared
