CARLA COOK, “IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE” - Jamboree Jazz

Born in Detroit, Carla Cook grew up in a rich, diverse musical atmosphere which influenced her subsequent musical career. In a celebrated career as a singer, Cook has received plenty of favourable reviews. He has also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, as well as winning the AFIM Indie award in the same category. Carla Cook is an original jazz singer and composer who performs the repertoire of standards superbly, but has also mastered other styles. She deserves particular credit for her jazz versions of songs not written by jazz composers – pieces which, until Cook sang them, few fans imagine could be performed in that style. At the Jamboree, she will offer a session with pieces of r & b, European Classical music, Motown, blues, gospel and, of course, jazz.
