ETUK UBONG + THE ETUK’S PHILOSOPHY - Jamboree Jazz

Born in Nigeria in 1992, Etuk Ubong is one of the most creative musicians today. In recent years he has presented his unique approach to African music at different venues and festivals in Great Britain. A visionary musician, Ubong grew up in Lagos, where he began playing the trumpet at the age of 14. After a long career as a sideman, in 2016 he made his debut with the EP Miracle. As an accompanist, Etuk Ubong has worked with African music stars of the calibre of Femi Kuti, Victor Olaiya and Buchi. His music brings together influences from jazz, Afrobeat, highlife and ekombi. He says, however, that he composes inspired by the main elements of nature: water, air and fire. This is why he defines his style as “earthmusic”.
