MARK AANDERUD TRIO Present DANZA DE LOS MUERTOS - Jamboree Jazz

Danza de los muertos is the title of the new album from the Mexican pianist, composer and producer Mark Aanderud. It is also a tribute to his country and the culture he grew up in – the basis that gave him an insatiable curiosity to experiment with music. Danza de los muertos reflects Aanderud’s absolute love for all music and culture – Mexican, but also African, Caribbean and Brazilian. He has conceptualised this through the language of modern harmony, improvisation and, of course, jazz. Trained at the Berklee College of Music, a follower of Uri Caine, Vijay Iyer and Bill Carrothers, Mark Aanderud has made his career working for musicians such as Tim Berne, Eric Reeves, Magos Herrera, Marc Miralta and Raynald Colom. Aanderud will present his new album at the Mas i Mas Festival in the company of the Mozambican Childo Tomás and the Cuban Frank Duran.
