TRIO PEDRELL in Barcelona

The Pedrell Trio bears the name of Felip Pedrell to recover the figure of the Catalan composer, musicologist and publisher in the collective memory, as he was also such a great influence on characters like Isaac Albéniz, Manuel de Falla and Enric Granados. We can discover the latter composer today at the hands of these three young virtuosos with the “Piano Trio Op. 50”, exemplifying highly expressive writing bathed in passionate Romanticism, a characteristic of Granados’s compositions. The performance of this work, which the composer created at the age of 27 is completed with another youthful piece written in a single movement by Schubert at the age of 15, in imitation of Classical models. The programme ends with the last version of Brahms “Piano Trio Op. 8, num. 1”, dating from 1889. A lovely repertoire from great names of the 19th century, which the Pedrell Trio will tackle with the intensity and elegance of their sound, cultivated at prestigious European universities such as Hoschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hanover, where they have recently completed master’s degrees in chamber music with Professor Markus Becker.
