Japanese pianist Yoko Suzuki moved to Barcelona to continue the studies she began at just three years of age in her own country. Here she focussed on Spanish and classical repertoire at the Marshall Academy, under Alicia de Larrocha, Carlota Garriga and Carmen Bravo, widow of the late Frederic Mompou, through whom she came to know the works of the Catalan composer, some of which are included in this program. Having won numerous awards at international competitions, Yoko has recorded works by the contemporary Japanese composer Sakae Tauchi and has also released an album of Spanish music through the Columna Música label.
